Wagner Dismisses Missourians Who Are Worried About Losing Protections for Pre-existing Health Conditions as “Radical Leftists” at a “Bogus” Gathering
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Responding to Missourians she represents in Congress who are requesting a public town hall meeting, Congresswoman Ann Wagner dismissed hundreds of Missourians, calling them “radical leftists” at a “bogus town hall,” according to KSDK TV.
As KDSK reports, hundreds of Missourians gathered because they’re worried about Wagner’s vote for the GOP’s health care bill, which guts protections for Missourians who have been sick before and have pre-existing health conditions. Among the packed crowd, the mother of a daughter, who was hit by a drunk driver and suffered a serious brain injury, said they’re concerned about losing their health coverage and never hear back from Wagner’s office.
In response to her constituents, Wagner’s office told KDSK: “This is a bogus town hall put on by radical leftists.”
Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber stated, “It’s one thing to hide from your constituents, it’s another to outright insult them. Missouri’s Republican officeholders need to stop running scared and answer for Trumpcare and why they think it’s a good idea to threaten the health and economic security for families throughout our entire state.”
None of Missouri’s Republicans in Congress have held a public town hall this year.
