COLUMBIA, Mo. – As President Donald Trump is sabotaging insurance markets by threatening to withhold key healthcare resources, a recent Kaiser Family Foundation study is revealing that over 120,000 Missourians could have the rug ripped out from underneath them and see their premiums skyrocket if Trump follows through on his brash threats.
According to the study, the over 120,000 Missourians who rely on these key healthcare resources – or Cost Sharing Reductions (CSRs) – for affordable coverage, which Donald Trump is threatening to rip away, represent more than 55% of total marketplace enrollment throughout the state. President Trump is reportedly planning to announce a decision this week.
“The health and financial security of Missourians should be a top priority, not some kind of bargaining chip for President Trump to drag down with the GOP’s disastrous healthcare overhaul,” said Missouri Democratic Party Chair Stephen Webber. “We have already seen how Donald Trump’s reckless threats and deliberate sabotage can directly hurt Missourians – and it’s well past the time for Missouri’s Republican officials to speak out against this blustering and commit to working on improving current healthcare law.”
The Kansas City Star previously reported that uncertainty from Donald Trump has already hurt Missourians because it played a “huge factor” in Blue KC’s recent decision to pull out of Missouri’s individual health insurance market.
