City of St. Charles resident, Bill Otto, has announced his intention to run for State Representative in the November 2012 election. Bill resides in what is presently the MO 17th District. Otto is retired after 31 years as an air traffic controller with his last 20 years spent at Lambert Airport. He is a native of north St. Louis County and served seven years in the United States Navy after attending college at Meramec Junior College and University of Missouri-St. Louis. After losing his home to airport expansion in 1999, Otto moved to his present home in north St Charles City in the Manors of Stable Ridge Subdivision.
“The Missouri Legislature has failed its citizens by not passing bills that would help to create jobs” said Otto at a recent appearance. “Attacking working men and women or overriding the will of the voters of this great state will not put people to work. Creating jobs is the only thing that will move our communities and the Missouri economic engine forward”, as he laid out his priorities and goals.
Otto served on the Bridgeton City Council from 1989 to 1995 as well as numerous community activities and is currently serving the City of St. Charles as a member of the Board of Adjustment and the City of St. Peters on the Green Environment and Solid Waste Advisory Committee (Green Team). Otto is married to Kathy with six children and five grandchildren.
Otto is running as a Democrat in the district currently held by Vicki Schneider who is term limited in 2012. Otto lives in the same neighborhood as Kenny Biermann who was elected to this seat in 2008. Biermann has decided not to run for re-election in 2012.
